The Appeal Some background
Two years ago, an architect's report identified a lot of work which would
have to be done to our church if it is to be kept in a usable state.
Work has now started on the most urgent of the repairs to the roof.

A Wedding At St. Peter's |
Although we knew at the outset that this would cost at least £50,000, we
felt able to put it in hand because we had secured support from English
Heritage and a number of other charities. We got this support because
St Peter's is a very fine church, parts of which are almost 1,000 years old,
and because it is important to our local community.
As well as being our place of regular worship, the church is used by
much larger numbers of people to mark those three important steps in their
lives: birth, marriage and death. And for many people, residents and
visitors alike, it is valued simply for being there, being seen to be there,
and marking the existence of Stanton Lacy as "somewhere".
It was for these reasons that we put our faith in being able to raise
the money to keep the church there and to keep it open.
As far as support from outside is concerned, as we have mentioned,
we have so far been very fortunate. However, all these promises of
support came with the requirement that we raise some of the money from
within the parish and among its friends and supporters.
We have therefore opened a Fabric Fund.
